RE: Experience with the internet and a business web page
Campbell Company established a web page in 1999. The initial site was expensive and hard to find. I would refer people to the web site after we had made contact. It served as a resource to pass on information.
In 2002 we redid the site. It again served the same purpose. I could send people there to see the site. Most times I ended us faxing or e mailing the information that the site contained.
In 2004 we hired WSI to rebuild the site and try to make it an effective tool. Since this time our site has been transformed from a presence on the web to a tool that directs potential clients to our business. Through monthly meetings we focused the site with the intention of climbing up the ranks of the different search engines. Each month we would identify where we had performed well, stayed stagnate or lost ground.
By utilizing the objective tools WSI supplied we have gone from a non-presence to a position where we monitor our rank and develop plans to improve.
My experience has changed my view that the web page was required to have an identity in my industry to a view that I monitor my position and focuses my efforts on objective metrics that allow me to rate the effectiveness of my web site.
